Japan Day 3 – an evening at Asakusa
The Asakusa shrine (Asakusa-jinja) is a famous Shinto shrine located in the Asakusa district of Tokyo and always well worth a visit despite the crowds.
Japan Day 2 – Imperial Palace Gardens
An early morning stroll through empty Ginza on the weekend took me to the grounds of the Imperial Palace area including its lovely Palace Garden that are open to visitors. There are many things to discover including an orchard-type area with kaki, lemon varieties and many more.
Japan Day 1 – Ginza
Berlin by Night 2018
A quick weekend trip to Berlin brought new perspectives under a full moon in the city center “Mitte” and on Museumsinsel.
Iceland Summer 2018 – Day 17
On the way to the airport we enjoyed our last day on the island in its Southwest Corner: the Reykjanes peninsula and its National Park as well as the coast line with many basalt stacks jutting out into the Atlantic Ocean. It was a wonderful time. Thanks Iceland. I will be back.
Iceland Summer 2018 – Day 16
More waterfalls in southern Iceland – we needed to catch the dry spells between the rain showers, the weather was definitely getting a bit more complicated, especially for the flying. But the scenery was still magical.
Iceland Summer 2018 – Day 15
Landmannalaugar via a set of F-roads that finally require us to tackle river crossings.
Iceland Summer 2018 – Day 14
No flying today – but climbing a glacier in harness and full gear with the Trolls as well as hiking to a mountainflank lake just above K…, Ki…, Kirkjubæjarklaustur (say it three times!).
Iceland Summer 2018 – Day 13
Fantastic day, despite the 4 am start to catch sunrise at the Glacier Lagoon and some photographers “arranging” the icebergs to their liking on the coast – so much for nature photography. Skaftafell was great for hiking (and just take one more turn to beat the crowds), and the discovery of Foss a Sidu, although directly located on the roadside, together with the lava cliffs of Dverghamrar, made this one of the more spectacular days for sure.
