Farkas the Traildog II

As Farkas is getting more confident and experienced as a trail dog, we are increasing our radius in the Swiss and Italian Alps for full-day bike trips.

He seems just to have the right confidence and control to know where to go and how fast to pace it, both from a safety as well as from an endurance perspective, so most of the time he can happily canter in front of the bike and act as the pace setter. And we got the commands mostly right so he know when to stay behind the bikes in more treacherous sections of the trail.

Add to this a drone in follow-me mode, an empty landscape just after snowmelt (or in some cases, still during snow melt) before the cable car season opens, and a contraption to tie to the bike to add further control, and we have a set of action sequences that work much better than just the GoPro mount at the bike itself.

Ireland Trip: 13b – back in another Belgian canal city

Visiting Bruges on a perfect early summer evening.

Ireland Trip: 13a – Another visit to the beach

There seems to be a bit of a pattern, but once we change the landmass and arrive in a new harbor, we head to the beach. This time after arriving in France using the Shuttle under “La Manche”, we headed to the famous Dunkerque beach.

Ireland Trip: 12 – Hiking the Malverns

Planned to hike the Malverns through-hike south to north and almost did the entire section (you can skip the final segment to reach the pub a bit faster). And even the taxi return to the tiny car park on the side of a backroad worked out just fine – we seem not to be only ones doing it this way.

Ireland Trip: 11 – The Cotswolds

Visiting Tewkesbury and the Cotswolds, with some famous tourist towns.

Ireland Trip: 10 – Welsh beaches

After the on-time arrival of the ferry in the UK, we found a nice although not too quiet place along the beach despite this being a slow Monday in mid-May.

Ireland Trip: 9 – Starting the journey back home

After a truly wonderful wedding celebration, the next day was departure day for the various guest groups to their various destinations and with their different transportation modes. Once more, we loaded the bus and ventured on to finish the Ring of Kerry and then across some small mountain passes straight towards Dublin, where we spent a short night to catch the early morning fast catamaran ferry, the Dublin Swift, again.

Ireland Trip: 7 – Traveling across the Burren

Traveling across the Burren to some of the most famous sights in Western Ireland on our way to the final destination of Waterville, Kerry.

Ireland Trip: 6 – Heading into Ireland

This time above water, we made the crossing into Ireland. Doggie went to Brewdog pub and we had a lovely stroll along the lake at Lough Rea in the evening.
