It was an icy morning and yet a good decision to spend the early hours with frozen fingers operating my copter to get a few stray patches of fog and the sunrise above Thur river, once near Pfyn and once near Frauenfeld in my home canton.

First snow in the Jura mountains
Again on top of Challhöchi, a really nice panoramic spot with views in all directions, especially to the main Swiss plains towards Olten and across the Jura chain towards Basel. Here a few aerial shots on a morning after first snow in November.

Kaaterskill Falls and the rest of the Catskills
For the last day of hiking and traveling the Catskills, the weather cleared up and we finally had one of these brisk but clear sunny fall days that make the colors stand out. We hiked – like many others that day – the short path to the foot of the Kaaterskill double-section waterfall and then made a very leisurely stroll across the ledges above North-South Lakes a short distance away.
I hope the Kaaterskill photo is particularly enjoyable, as the space at the viewing platform is really limited and you typically would not be able to get this perspective photographed easily – it is in fact a DRI-panorama composite comprising 12 pictures originally that were merged.

More ponds, trees and waterfalls
The final day in the Adirondacks – more ponds to hike to, more trees to come across, and more waterfalls to discover. You are looking at Connery Pond, Birch Trees and Split Rock Falls near Elizabethtown NY
Late fall in the Adirondacks
It is definitely past peak here in the Adirondacks, with very little yellow and red color remaining on the deciduous trees, with the brown and grey of bare branches mixing with the evergreens.
Evening timelapse in the Adirondacks
Driving along ponds and streams, a few miles compressed into 30 seconds in this timelapse of the Adirondacks, filmed near Lake Placid, home of two Olympic Games in the state of New York
From New York state to Vermont in the rain
The weather was really wet on this morning’s drive from Lake George in New York state across the bridge near Fort Ticonderoga into Vermont. At least the waterfalls were in full swing.
Falls and fall colors in the Catskills II
A little deeper into the Catskills, visiting Buttermilk Falls in the Peekamoose Valley and Diamond Notch Falls in the Westkill Mountains. Full fall foliage colors today, but it seems all it needs is one storm that’s actually heading our way and all will be gone with the wind…
