Flying around the waterfall

Second flight with the new multicopter – this time at the secluded “Giessen” waterfall in the Baselland canton Jura mountains. It is interesting to see how easy it is to fly the drone and how hard it is to control the Gimbal so the camera motions are smooth and regular.

First flight experience

Yes, a new toy, a new way of getting pictures – finally in the air without the need to charter an expensive pilot and plane or helicopter. But the whole thing is quite tricky. Not allowed here, people getting angry there, weather not playing its part. What a challenge, but fun it is.

A day at the Zoo, or rather the Tierpark Schönbrunn a little outside Vienna’s city center. Polar bears and baby pandas and unfortunately a lot of people on this sunny Sunday, too.

Vienna 2017 – I

Back in Vienna for EGU and for a long weekend of sightseeing.
Anker Clock, famous astronomical watch built by Franz von Matsch located at the High Market in downtown Vienna. What we are looking at according to the legend at 3 pm is Duke Leopold VI with his wife.
I have not found out what “Stehachterl” (literally, 1/8th standing) stands for – whether you have to drink 1/8 of wine while standing or so, but it is apparently a quite famous bar in what they call the Bermuda Triangle of Vienna.

Egypt Dive III – Colorful fish

Back on the dive boat, I met some really regular divers from Germany, coming here to the Duck’s Dive base and the reefs around Safaga for 17 years now. And today it seems the conditions were right for the first time to dive Um Hal Hal, an outer reef far out in the Safaga Bay. And what a fantastic, elongated reef with several Ergs it is!
