View from my plane leaving Washington D.C. at a crips but sunny day. This is an American Airlines service from Reagon Nat’l

MIA airport views at night
I liked the view of the runway and the departing big wings, including a British Airways A380. I also liked very much the rising moon over the city skyline of Miami. However, I did not like the nightly aircraft noise through not-so-soundproof hotel room windows…
Key Largo Sunset
Spending the weekend finally in not a concrete place like Florida City/Homestead but rather a bit nicer on the keys itself, here comes the compulsory sunset. It was actually really nice and enjoyable, especially the view from a hammock swinging underneath the palms on the calm bay.
Biscayne National Park
On a boat tour across Biscayne Bay-Card Sound to tiny Boca Chita Key and its ‘decorative’ Lighthouse. A nice half day out that had started with a chilly but wonderful sunrise – do you see the strange reflection of the sun in the enlarged image?
Ellbow Reef
A second day of diving, this time with Silent World Dive Center, the first one off the Overseas Highway when traveling south as you enter Key Largo – much more convenient for me located in Florida City/Homestead. Smaller boat, which makes it choppier in the surf, but small group too (Retired couple, two guys on a dive trip for the weekend from South Carolina, and myself with the guide).
Still nice gorgonia gardens, a small wreck and busy reef with grunts, but not many special things. Check it out yourself:
Pickles and Snappers
While grounded in Miami when I should be working in Haiti but could not due to security regulations, I took the opportunity to take my camera underwater again. Here are some impressions diving with Florida Keys Dive Center and my dives on Pickles Reef and Snapper Ledge, guided by Karsten.
