A little deeper into the Catskills, visiting Buttermilk Falls in the Peekamoose Valley and Diamond Notch Falls in the Westkill Mountains. Full fall foliage colors today, but it seems all it needs is one storm that’s actually heading our way and all will be gone with the wind…

Views in the Catskills
Hiked up to one of the highest viewpoints in the Catskills, Sam’s Point, and enjoyed the autumn leaves and (the rest of) the sunshine while it lasted. A beautiful day, but way to warm for the season it seems to me. At times, the temperatures reached 76°F which is definitely unseasonably warm – and I am not sure it helps the colors of the trees.

Colorful weekend in Val Bregaglia II
Moved on to visit more Casacce in the hills around Soglio, the famous chestnut “metropole” of the valley, and then hiked to the alpine hut of Albignia to get served some mountain specialities with a spectacular view. The day ended with a Mountainbike ride downhill on the “Maloja Express” and back up.
Colorful weekend in Val Bregaglia I
Decided to hit the road to drive across Julier pass to attend the chestnut harvest festival and the associated events in Val Bregaglia in the South of Grisons canton. A day full of color, casaccie (chestnut roasting houses) and tasting menus.
Greina II
The second day saw our overnight stay, Terri SAC, covered in thick fog. Then there was sleet, then rain, then real snow, then the weather somehow could not decide, but then cleared up for good to end with a full end-of-summer hot day in Ticino. It was a fun crossing of the Greina – thanks to all!
Greina I
First day of a two day hike up from Grisons to the Greina, staying overnight at Terri hut and then across the alpine plain into Ticino. And about seven seasons in two days it was!
Seoul city center sightseeing
The morning before my return flight (well, my planned return flight, first scheduled then cancelled…) I had some time to do an early-morning “mountain” visit and walk across the nice park and the market back to the hotel. An interesting sky-scraping city for sure!
